Ron and Gloria will be speaking together at TEDx Dun Laoghaire, giving us invaluable
insights into the Coda and Deaf communites from their unique and very different
perspectives.
Ronald S. Opatich grew up in a household where both parents were deaf, therefore his first language was American Sign Language and not spoken English. Growing up with deaf parents put him in the position of communicating for his parents, eventually leading to a career as a sign language interpreter. A passionate traveler, Ron is happy to have had numerous opportunities to interpret for and lead groups of his deaf friends here and abroad. With his fellow Coda Gloria Rosen, they will speak about the crucial importance of communication, both within families and in the broader world of hearing and Deaf.
